Mr. Kapasi, however, is not a typical tour guide/ interpreter. He plays an important role in covering the beauty and cruelty of life. No matter where people are from, they need human contact. Humanity needs to impart its messages in order to feel whole. Mr. Kapasi’s yearning for attention overwhelms his good judgment, and he eventually ends up disappointed. A loveless marriage provides the feelings of pain and isolation that Mr. Kapasi feels. The need for human connection and relief from loneliness proves to be a major motivating factor behind his actions....
