Vine St. Urbana, IL 61801 (217) 384-3685 Examining Americas Big Events Through Champaign-Urbanas Local Lens Funding Agency The funding agency for this grant proposal is the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation (CUSF). Since 1990, CUSF has accepted applications each year from educators in the Champaign and Urbana public schools, and made grant awards based on these proposals. CUSF funds a broad spectrum of projects to help children of all ages through a partnership between public education and private individuals and businesses. I will be applying for a CUSF Master Grant. Grant proposals for the next cycle will be due mid February 2008. Grants are funded up to $4000. Should this grant proposal be rejected by the CUSF, the Vidoni family fund could possibly accept this grant proposal. The Vidoni family reviews all Urbana School District CUSF grant proposals that are denied and funds a portion of those. 4 Abstract/Executive Summary I teach 8 th grade social studies, US History from Reconstruction to the present. In trying to reach my students and help them understand the past 142 years, I try to use local connections whenever possible to help them see history in their very own backyard. For this proposal, I would like to obtain equipment that will allow them to conduct and share their own study of history as it is reflected in the local landscape so that they will find history relevant and exciting, learn to be critical readers and competent researchers, and reduce of the effects of the digital...
