Part A: Time series plot of real per capita GDP Part B: Growth rates using exact formula Average annual growth rate of real GDP 3.8% Average annual growth rate of population 1.6% Average annual growth rate of real GDP per capita 2.2% Part C: Growth rates using log approximation Average annual growth rate of real GDP 3.7% Average annual growth rate of population 1.6% Average annual growth rate of real GDP per capita 2.1% Note that the results are the same as for part B Part D: Scatter plot of real per capita GDP and real per capita consumption Your time-series plot should connect the individual observations to make a continuous line. Be sure to use the "XY (Scatter)" chart type in Excel rather than the "Line" chart type. The difference between the two is that the Line chart type treats the x variable as categorical rather than numerical. This is something you do not want, though it does not affect this particular example. See the worksheet "An additional example" in this Excel workbook to see an example where it does make a difference. Note: you may have reported these in decimal (e.g. 0.038, 0.016, 0.022) rather than percentages. That is fine. Your scatter plot should leave the points unconnected.
