Page 1 of 3 SYLLABUS CHEMISTRY 107 LABORATORY – FALL 2009 QUESTIONS? Contact Nancy Virgil, [email protected] 443-2851, Rm. 120 Life Science Center GENERAL INFORMATION Our first meetings are September 8 to 11 – this is during the second week of classes. Check your class schedule for: Your section number . Ignore section M001 -- the important section number is M002 - M031. The one day of the week your section meets: Tu, W, Th, or F. The beginning time: 10:45 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 2:15 PM or 7 PM The labs meet in LSC 002, 004, and 008 on the Ground floor of the Life Science Center. Look for signs directing you to your section. If you are not pre-registered for CHE 107, or you have a scheduling conflict, visit the Undergraduate Chemistry Office in LSC 120 during the first week of class. The Undergraduate Chemistry Office is an excellent resource if you have any questions during the semester. The Laboratory Manual is titled, "General Chemistry Laboratory Using Biochemical Tools". You must purchase it from the SU bookstore to get the license key for the course website. Bring the manual to every meeting of the lab. Your TA will be assigned at the first class meeting, and he/she will announce contact information. Sign in to the course website before September 8. The license key for the website is in the lab manual packet. Check the website several times per week for Announcements. TA's will also record your grades to the website - check them for accuracy when your graded papers are returned. GRADING BREAKDOWN 20% Pre-Lab Quizzes 20% In-Lab Quizzes 50% Lab Reports 10% Lab Technique At the end of the semester the lowest quiz and report grade in each of the above categories is dropped from the average. There is no Final Exam in this 1-credit lab course.
