Unformatted text preview: 2008 (2009) Fall Physics 7B Study Guide Hello everyone and welcome to Alexander and Michael's Physics 7B study guide. Below you'll fnd the topics and equations we ¡ound most important ¡or class ordered by approximate DL number. Don't get hung up on remembering equations as there should be an equation sheet plus you have your note card. Remember to also review lecture slides/problems and good luck! Caveat: This is strictly what we think are important points o¡ the topics we've discussed. They do not necessarily re¢ect what the exam will contain, nor are they representative o¡ what the exam writer believes are important. 1. Energy Density Model ¡or ¢uid systems- Energy per unit volume- E thermal always increases in the direction o¡ ¢ow! (i¡ there is dissipation)- Remember to choose points to analyze the energy density equation- Remember that discontinuous changes imply separate ¢uid systems (see FNT problem 5.1-7)- Δ (total head) = E pump /vol - Δ E th /vol- Δ (total head) = Δ P + Δ KE/vol + Δ PE/vol- PE = ρ gh KE = 1/2 ρ v 2 E th = IR I = Av (A is cross-sectional area here) 2. Analyzing a ¢uid Circuit- Similar to the above review picking two points and identi¡ying ¢uid system boundaries- Review quiz 1 and 2 online- Remember that columns o¡ ¢uid may be used to measure the pressure o¡ a pipe...
