Incidence – the number of new cases of a condition in a specific period of time, usually one year Ex: swine flu (H1N1 virus) Prevalence- the total # of cases of a condition divided by the total population (how common is the condition) Ex: Breast cancer; cerebral palsy; example is 1 out of 9 people
