Guidelines for Concert Reports Introduction to Music 101 Fall 2007 The concert reports will be due on the following dates: Concert Report #1: October 26 Concert Report #2: December 12 As it says on your syllabus, you are to attend two concerts throughout the course of the semester and then write a short paper on each. For one of the concerts, I suggest that you choose a piece from the Western art music repertoire, or what you might think of as being “Classical” music. It could be from any of the historical periods we have discussed and by any composer. The other concert can be about some other style of music, perhaps one in which you have a great deal of experience (or one that you have heard in the past and wish to know more about). Jazz, rock, and rap are all acceptable, as are any ethnic styles or genres you might wish to discuss. I would prefer that you do indeed make an attempt to go to at least one “Classical” music performance, either here at Rutgers or elsewhere. This would give
