This is an alternative approach approach to mechanics. Instead of using vectors such as velocity, acceleration, . .. we use scalar quantities such as work and energy. This approach can be more appropriate (i.e. simpler) for certain problems [and of course less simple for other types of problems]

General Defnition: Energy is a scalar (i.e. a number) that describes the state oF an object VERY important property: Principle oF Energy Conservation - The total amount oF energy oF a closed system is always constant Kinetic Energy (K) A type oF energy that characterizes the motion oF an object: The Faster an object moves the more KE it has Potential Energy (P) A type oF energy that is associated with the position oF an object Work (W), done by a Force, is required to change an object’s Kinetic Energy
