Japanese History Final 11 Tokyo Story – Ozu Yasujiro 1953 Grandparents going to Tokyo to visit their children after the war. After talking to their friend, she says that they will have a wonderful trip. Ironic? Grandparent’s daughter seems to be very disobedient just because his mother moved his desk to a different location. Norkio- widowed daughter who lost her husband to the war. Instead of talking with his parents, the son essentially forces them to go to sleep for the night. Doesn’t even order sashimi because it costs more money since they already were cooking meat. Although the grandparents speak of only happy things of their sons and daughters, their faces seem to portray a look of disappointment. The other daughter seems to be very indifferent to her parents coming to Tokyo. Even the sons do not listen to the parents or the grandparents. No one seems to be willing to talk or even do anything with their grandparents. They just leave them to do their own thing. Widowed daughter in law. After speaking of her deceased husband, they still SMILE. Weird.
