In The Monkey Wrench Gang , by Edward Abbey, environmental activists are portrayed not as limp-wristed tree-hugging hippies, but as rough-and-tumble outdoorsmen. The book introduces a concept that many people were and are unfamiliar with: eco-activists who do not thrive on guilt and passionate appeals, who rather take matters into their own hands in order for the beautiful American Southwest not to be despoiled by human construction It’s doesn’t connect the idea while you first introduce about the book then jumped to background of author. Who said? I don’t get it. Can you explain further? You need support and analysis in this quote. Otherwise it doesn’t serve any purpose. Like what? Why does this paragraph appear long from where you talked about Earth First! What exactly did Abbey say yo help people understand this difference? . Edward Abbey was born in 1927 in Indiana. He spent his much of his early life in the Appalachians, during which time he fell in love with nature. He then moved to the Four Corners region of the United States, where the corners of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah meet. It was during this time that he focused his love of nature more specifically onto a love of the American Southwest.
