It is difficult and expensive to come up with another OS with the capability of running multiple apps. High demand of large application that can be run on Windows Most apps today are written to run only on Windows New competitor Netscape Navigator 70% usage share First one that can be used on multi-platforms (not only on MS) Navigator was based on Java platform technology. Java is designed in part to permit application written in in to be run on different operating systems.
