Methods, Materials, and Procedures: The heat capacity of the bomb was assessed prior to the derivation of the enthalpy of combustion of biphenyl. After completing the procedure ( lab notebook ), three l.25-gram samples of benzoic acid (Fisher Scientific Co Certified) were consumed. After the temperature remained constant for approximately one minute, the temperature of the water bath was measured in one minute intervals to 0.01 C.
