BIL 150 – Sep 09 th   10 Properties of Cell o Cells obey physical and chemical Laws of universe Cells transform energy via: Capture light energy (photosynthesis) Redox reaction   oxidation – reduction reaction (mostly part of a  covalent bound) o Oxidation is removing an electron and reduction is adding  an electron. o It is fundamental to how cells transform energy Cells constantly expend energy to maintain a non-equilibrium  ordered state o Cells are highly structured o All cells are derived from a single primordial cell Special Creation: There’s a supreme being, it is based on faith and  cannot be treated by scientific method Extraterrestrial: life landed on earth. Panspermia: Life existed everywhere in the universe and was  simply spread across the universe by the solar winds
