Label the axes, provide units and name the different regions. 3.In your own words, what does “plastic” mean in terms of tendon/ligament biomechanics? plastic means that a biological tissue, e.g. tendon has been stretched so far that it is damaged and is no longer elastic, that is, it does not return to its original length. it is permanantly deformed. In contrast to an elastic material, a viscoelastic material does not return all of the energy stored during a stretch (it exhibits hysteresis). A purely elastic material has a force-displacement relationship that does not depend on the speed or duration (time) of the stretch. In contrast, a viscoelastic material has a force- displacement curve that does depend on the velocity and/or duration (time) of the stretch. 5. Distinguish “modulus of elasticity” from “stiffness”.
