FUNCTIONS AND DIVISION OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM 1. The nervous system is the master controlling and communicating system of the body. All of our thoughts, actions and emotions reflect the activity of our nervous system. In general, the nervous system has three basic functions. List and describe each function. 2. The nervous system can be divided into TWO principal parts: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). a. Provide a description of the components of the CNS, its location within the human body and its primary role.
