Since the first design competition was offered during the 1994-1995 academic year, student design teams have developed material handling system designs for manufacturing and warehousing operations. Design problems are typically drawn from the case files of designers and manufacturers of material handling equipment and their end users. The 2009-2010 case is developed by KEOGH Consulting (www.keogh-consulting.com). Cash prizes from CICMHE and the Order Fulfillment Council are provided to the top three teams ($1500 for first place, $1000 for second place, $500 for third place) and the academic departments of the team members ($500 per department). In addition, thanks to OFC co-sponsorship, the faculty advisors from the top three schools will be supported to attend the first two days of the 2011 ProMat show to be held in Chicago, IL on March 21-24, 2011. 2009-2010 CICMHE Design Competition Case Study iii 2009-2010 Material Handling Student Design CompetitionTABLE OF CONTENTSINTRODUCTION................................................................................................................................................................................................................1THE COMPANY - TOOLFAIR DISTRIBUTORS........................................................................................................................................................2BACKGROUND...........................................................................................................................................................................2TOOLFAIR’S ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT’S ASSIGNMENT...............................................................................................3PROJECT QUESTIONNAIRE AND FACILITY DESIGN CRITERIA.......................................................................................................................4PROPOSED FACILITY DRAWINGS (INITIAL AND FUTURE)................................................................................................................................5PROJECT DELIVERABLES...............................................................................................................................................................................................7PROJECT DELIVERABLES....
