Fass Course Outline Fall 2009 Social History of the United States 1865 to the Present I BOOKS All of the following books are required reading for the course. All are available in paperback editions and have been ordered from the ASUC bookstore. These books are also available on two-hour closed reserve at the Moffitt Undergraduate Library. William Dean Howells, The Rise of Silas Lapham Gary Cross, An All Consuming Century Stephen Lassonde, Learning to Forget Kriste Lindenmeyer, The Greatest Generation Grows Up Kelly Schrum, Some Wore Bobby Sox Samuel Freedman, Small Victories Jason DeParle, American Dream This class has no conventional textbook , but many students will want to have available some good recent textbook on United States history since the Civil War so that you can follow along comfortably as we skip around some issues and concentrate on others.
