Lauren Dosil December 11, 2009 CINE 105 Anti Christ Antichrist consists of four chapters bracketed by the prologue and an epilogue. The prologue opens with a married couple making love in their apartment on a snowy afternoon. The husband and wife, known only as "He" and "She", fail to keep an eye on their young toddler Nick. He breaks free from his crib and wanders over to an open window to watch the snowfall. He slides over a chair to get up on the windowsill and falls two stories to his death. During the funeral the mother passes out and is taken to a hospital to help cope with her son’s death. Von Trier then divides the remainder of the film into four chapters, beginning with "Grief." Throughout the first chapter, the woman plunges into rock bottom do to her misery and guilt over her child’s death. The husband, who is a professional therapist, decides to bring her home from the hospital and treat her depression himself.
