Qualitative Analysis • You will have 1 afternoon to complete the lab [maximum 3 hours]. • You will be given individual unknown solutions to analyze for the metal cations. •Each unknown contains ions from Groups I and III – you can have between 2 and 7 ions. • This analysis will be under exam conditions. c There will be no talking or transmitting of information during the laboratory. Violations of this rule will result in a failing grade on the laboratory final exam (5% of final grade).

What you will be given for the Qualitative Analysis … • Each student will receive a report form and a 2 ml sample of an unknown. • The report form will give space for – c recording observations, naming the ions present, and writing net ionic equations for the reactions used to identify the unknown metal ions.
