Kit Chow HWS 333 Fall 2009 Eating Disorders For this paper, we were informed to write our gut feeling on eating disorders . The presentation covers a lot of materials related to the causes and types of eating disorders . It was extremely informative on how the modern media world impacts our eating habits as well . Based on definition provided, eating disorders occur once a person experiences severe disturbances in eating behavior, such as an acute reduction of food intake or extreme overeating, and feelings or excessive distress or concern about body weight or shape .” Personally, I can easily relate to this topic because I had eating disorders when I was a kid . However, I was not diagnosed and sadly found out about that after puberty is over . There are many causes for eating disorders . A person with a low self-esteem tends to eat less . Depression and anxiety problems can also change the eating habit of a person. Picture someone having 3 exams for the next day, in that case, it is more likely for that person to eat fast foods rather than to spend time to cook a healthy meal . In order to save time, this person might lead to having eating disorders
