There are many levels of government within the United States. Each level has representatives, who are generally elected, to represent the people at that level. The people who represent me are as following: My Senators: Mark Udall Michael Benett (replaced Ken Salazar) My rep in the House: Dianna DeGette My State Senator: Jenn Viega My State rep in the House: Lois Court My Mayor: John Hinkenlooper My County Commissioners: Marcy Morrison (insurance) Matt Baker Doug Dean My City council rep: Charlie Brown A main power of Congress is the ability to declare the power to declare and finance a war with a foreign nation. The Iraq war was the brainchild of the George W. Bush administration, but it was ultimately the members of the House and Senate that sealed the deal based on falsified reports of Saddam Hussein keeping nuclear weapons and 911 involvements.
