ECH 142—Heat Transfer Spring 2009 Instructor : R.J. Phillips 3010 Bainer Hall [email protected] Teaching Assistant: Vannarith Leang [email protected] Office Hours : TBA Text : Portions of Fundamental Principles of Heat Transfer , by S. Whitaker, will be made available on the web site. Grading : There will be two one-hour midterm exams and one two-hour final exam. There will also be regular, approximately weekly, homework assignments. The relative importance of the midterms, homework and final exam will be as follows: 2 one-hour midterms 2 x 20% final exam (2 hours) 40% homework 20% . Homework assignments must be turned in on time to receive full credit. Educational Objectives : 1) To educate students in the fundamentals of chemical engineering, balanced with the application of those principles to practical problems; 2) To educate students for careers in industry, government, and academia.
