4 The Standard Model (SM) contains the detailed rules by which particles interact. Many of these rules are stated in terms of quantum numbers, rather like the atomic quantum numbers, n , l , and m . However, unlike the atomic quantum numbers, we do not have a deep understanding of the quantum numbers of the SM!
