CS106A Handout #00 Fall 2009 September 30 2009 CS106A Section _______________________________________________________________________ _ Lauren Lam [email protected] Section: Wednesday 4:15, Room 200-230 Section : Basically section is meant to be helpful. I'll be covering sample problems that go along with what is going on in class. These samples tend to be really really helpful for writing your assignments. Also, this is time for you to ask questions or discuss anything you want so any input is always welcome. LaIR Helper Hours : The LAIR (a place that you may come to call home) is constantly staffed by helpers on Sunday-Thursday from 6pm to 12am. Take advantage of them. The LAIR is on the 2nd floor of Tressider. I will be in the LaIR on Tuesdays from 10pm-12, but feel free to go anytime it's staffed. Program Grading : I'll try to get them back to you as quickly as possible so you can incorporate feedback into the next assignment. You can expect to have programs back within a week. As soon as your programs are graded, we will set up a time to meet for

Unformatted text preview: interactive grading. Interactive Grading (IG) : The way it works is that we sit down one on one for about 15 minutes and discuss your program. It's for you to get real feedback on what you're doing well in your code and what needs work. This way you can get a better idea of what I'm looking for in your assignments. Late Policy : You get 2 free late days. Use them wisely. The late days will automatically be counted based on when your programs are turned in, so no need to notify me that you intend to use one. Some Notes on Programming Style : One of the hardest things to realize is that writing a program that works is only part of your job. How you achieve a solution can often be just as important. Good style makes code easier to read, and it also makes it easier to write. And. .. Ask questions. Programming can be difficult. You will not be first one to lose sleep over a program. Trust me, I would know....
