14 15 Evaluation Plan As the studies portray, green roofs are a valid means at environmental remediation. In order to reduce the impact of stormwater runoff, greenhouse gas emission, and temperature spikes on the University of Florida campus, a green roof should be installed on top of Library West. If the problem is ignored any further, the beauty associated with the UF campus might fade. In order to assess the success of the green roof proposal several tests must be performed. A successful green roof can be defined as one that performs at least two of the following functions. 1. Decreases the amount of stormwater runoff and pollutants over a two year span. a. Determine by: i. Testing the amount of stormwater water with relative mathematic estimates ii. Measuring common pollutants (nitrates, phosphates, heavy metals, ect.) biweekly over test period 2. Aesthetic approval a. Test by a survey given to incoming undergraduates asking if they like the appearance of a green roof on top of Library West
