102709 prezygotic solutions: -habitat choice -incompatible sex organs parapatric speciation -clines are formed -sister species are not next to each other geographically sympatric speciation -b/c of postzygotic isolation (ex: diploid and tetraploid species make triploid offspring, which are not fertile) Frogs: Gray tree frogs: -tetraploid frogs have lower and longer call, bigger cells -diploid females do not like tetraploid calls -therefore: prezygotic isolation -tetraploidy have evolved multiple times from diff combos of diploid species (mult origins of tetraploids) -the diploids do not mate w/ tetraploids, but tetraploids formed from diff species do mate together b/c their calls are similar enough that tetraploid females don’t distinguish between tetraploid males -tetraploids are all the same species, even though they originated from different species “Sympatric Speciation” wording is changed.
