ENGINEER 2P04 - ENGINEERING MECHANICS "A" PRACTICE PROBLEM SET: 8 This problem set contains 10 problems. Please solve them prior to the tutorial time. Only the problems indicated with * will be discussed during the tutorial time. Solutions to this problem set will be posted at the Course Website. 1. [Use Vector Formulation] The bent bar of negligible weight is supported by a ball-and-socket joint at O, a cable connected between A and E, and a slider journal bearing at D. The bar is acted on by a force P and a couple C , both parallel to the z-axis. Determine the support reactions at O and at D, and the force in the cable AE. 2.* In the frame shown member ABC is one continuous member pin connected at B and C to other members. Determine the horizontal and vertical components of the forces which the pins at A, B, and C exert on member ABC of the frame. Note that support E is a pin and support A is a rocker.
