ANS 150 - Introduction to Animal Science Equine Management We will take a walking tour of the N.C.S.U. Equine Educational Unit . The Equine Educational Unit is used by the Department of Animal Science, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the N.C.S.U. Horse Extension Program to train undergraduates, veterinary students, veterinary residents and horse owners in a variety of aspects of equine management. Be sure that you understand the following from this information: a) different classification of horse breeds; and b) correct nomenclature for equine anatomy and the equine hoof. In addition, you should be able to identify the following breeds of horses: c) American Saddlebred, American Standardbred, Appaloosa, Arabian, Belgian, Clydesdale, Morgan, Percheron, Pinto, Quarter Horse, Shire, Suffolk, and Tennessee Walking Horse, Thoroughbred.
