Laboratory Exercise Organic Molecules I OBJECTIVES This exercise is designed to reinforce material we have recently discussed in class, including: organic molecules. GRADING check for less than three points taken off check minus for more than three points taken off zero for not handed in on time PROCEDURE   Work in groups of four. Try to answer the questions below without first looking in your notes.   Check your answers before turning in this lab to the homework file before you leave class.   Specimen #1. This is glucose. What atom does 1 represent? What atom does 2 represent? What atom does 3 represent? What atom does 4 represent? Is this form of glucose alpha or beta?    Why? Beside glucose, name two other monosaccharides. Specimen #2. This is a starch molecule.
