Name LABORATORY: MEIOSIS OBJECTIVES In today’s lab, you will have a chance to see meiosis as it occurs in living cells, as well as, to review the steps of meiotic cell division. GRADING check for less than three points taken off check minus for three or more points taken off zero for not handed in on time GENERAL PROCEDURE I.After carefully watching Part I of the video entitled Meiosis, answer the question put to the class: II. Work in groups of two or three. Try to answer the questions below without first looking in your notes. Check your answers before turning in this lab to the homework file before you leave class. Specimen #1. Name these two stages of meiosis. List the five distinguishing characteristics of this stage. Name a. What type of cell, animal or plant (circle one), is this? Name one characteristic that can be seen in this picture that tells you it is the kind of cell that you determined it to be. Define the term diploid.
