General Biology Laboratory Manual                                                         LABORATORY: GENETICS                                                                The study of genetics began with  Gregor Mendel (1822-1884), an Austrian monk who studied  the patterns of inheritance using pea plants in a monastery garden that he tended.  Understanding  these patterns help people predict the probable outcomes of crosses between various individuals,  including themselves and their spouses. This lab is designed to reinforce basic genetic vocabulary and problem solving.  GRADING check for less than three points taken off check minus for three or more points taken off zero for not handed in on time GENERAL PROCEDURE   Work in groups of two or three. Do the lab in the order listed below.
