iii. Modernism re-entered to produce alternate cinema iv. Modernism was here at the beginning of the 20st century and affected all the mediums, but stopped. It did not find an audience and was too esoteric. We also had World War I which brought upon change. b. Modernism’s two basic tenets: i. Thematically: self-conscious engagement with social and moral values 1. Every modernist work self-consciously engages itself with all social and moral values 2.
