Jacob Zipperstein English 7 th period 3/27/05 Does Loyalty Matter? I believe that you are stronger when you have people that believe in you, people that are loyal to you. Many people were loyal to Odysseus, and he got to the end of his journey successfully, while Penny wasn’t loyal to Everett he came home, and then had to go get the ring, which he could never find. Loyalty is defined as faithfulness to a person, an ideal, a custom, or a duty. Loyalty is one of the major themes in the poem The Odyssey and in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? This is shown in many ways, and there are many reasons why I think this. In the Odyssey, the main character Odysseus takes a very dangerous journey. He fights monsters and travels into the deep sea. The only way he gets through this journey alive is because of his loyal companions. There were many people loyal to him in this poem. His crew was very loyal to him in many ways. They helped him get through the ocean and never doubted him. They had to pass
