Jacob Zipperstein December 2, 2009 PreMed 101 T.A – Max Hw # 5 Association of Marijuana Use and the Incidence of Testicular Germ Cell Tumors The idea that testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) have been increasing over the past few decades is thoroughly expressed in the introduction. Statistics showing that TGCT is the most common type of malignancy in American men between the ages of 15 and 34 are covered in passing. The idea that TGCTs are classified into two different groups is briefly mentioned. Pure seminoma and nonseminomna (the two groups) are thoroughly analyzed and explained. Statistics are showing that marijuana is one of the increasingly prevalent causal factors to TGCTs. The idea that chronic marijuana use has multiple adverse effects on the endocrine and reproductive systems is expressed and reinforced. The idea that this study is to reinforce the hypothesis that marijuana use is a risk factor for TGCT is briefly mentioned. The idea that this study is to be aimed at men ages 15 to 44 years-old is covered in passing. The idea that interviews were conducted to each of the
