Robert C. Neff III English 1001 Section 074 Ms. Alexius Final Copy 10/15/09 First-Hand Portrait Early on a chilly, fall Saturday morning I made my way to Tiger Stadium for the first time. I waited at the end of my driveway in my white number three, Kevin Faulk jersey. Even though I was only eight I had been an LSU football fan since I was growing in my mother’s womb. My mother and father ironically met at Louisiana State University during their first semester freshman English class. Therefore, it is only common sense that the purple and gold had run in my veins, while my heart beat the unforgettable tune of “Pregame.” Other than that I could not explain my uncontrollable love for this program, but as I paced impatiently around my front yard I never even imagined anything close to the level of excitement that was coming my way over the next twenty-four hours. “Kiss your mommy goodbye, Rob!” “It’s 10:30(AM). We’re late.” Uncle Philip had finally arrived and was obviously ready to party. He hopped out of his black Jeep Wrangler wearing a flamboyant purple and gold sweatshirt with the letters “L-S-U” stitched across his broad chest. He was also sporting a nice pair of yellow slacks.
