Mailbox: Schermerhorn 826 (Underneath “Minturn”) Course Description : Part of the Core Curriculum since 1947, Art Humanities teaches students how to look at, think about, and engage in critical discussion of Western Art. The course focuses on the formal structure of works of architecture, painting, and other media, as well as the historical context in which these works were made and understood. Workload : One midterm exam, one 5-page midterm paper, one final in-class writing assignment, one 8-10 page final research paper. Expectations : Students are expected to come to every class on time and well-prepared. Active participation in our in-class discussions is highly recommended. Attendance is extremely important. Students are not allowed more than 2 unexcused absences – more than this will adversely affect your final grade. Plagiarism, in any form, is strictly prohibited. Students who plagiarize risk expulsion from Columbia University. The Art Humanities Website
