LECTURE-8th WEEK THE UNLIMITED MARITAL DEDUCTION I would suggest that you read this chapter before reading this lecture (which I think you should always do). In my experience and estimate, 80% of the married couples that I have done estate plans for are far more concerned about the well-being of the surviving spouse than the taxes that their children might ultimately pay after both have died. Accordingly, death tax, if it occurs at all and because of the unlimited marital deduction, will be deferred until the second spouse’s death.
