Managing Resources and Password Security A Profile is a named set of limits imposed on system resources and passwords to optimize resource utilization and enforce database security. DEFAULT profile is automatically created if a profile is not specified Uses of Profiles: Restrict users from performing operations requiring heavy use of resources Ensure that users are logged off the database when they have left their sessions idle for some time Enable group resource limits for similar uses Facilitate the assigning of resource limits to users Manage resource usage in large, complex multi-user database systems Control the user of passwords Steps for managing resources: Create profiles, assign profiles, enable resource limits Profile Characteristics: Profiles can be assigned only to users, and not to roles or other profiles Only one profile can be assigned to a user at time Profile assignments do not affect the current session ALTER PROFILE ADMIN_USER LIMIT CPU_PER_SESSION 6000 IDLE_TIME 15;
