Sequential execution: application executed in order they appear transfer of control: occurs when next statement to be executed might not be the next one in sequence. Applications can be written in terms of three forms of control: sequence, selection, and repetition Activity diagrams are part of Unified Modeling Language , an industry standard for modeling software systems. It models the activity (workflow) of a portion of a software system. They are composed of symbols like: action-state symbols, diamonds, and circles. These symbols are connected by transition arrows. Action states: represents actions to perform Action expression: specifies particular action to perform. Solid circle: location at top represents the activity's initial state final state: the end of the workflow after the application performs its activities. Notes: like comments in java, describe purpose of symbols in diagram, dotted line connects note Three type of selection statements : single: the if statement double: the if . ... else statement
