Aligning Standards and Learning Objectives Part 1: Lesson Plan Analysis The academic standard that was presented for this lesson plan example is CCSS.ELA- Literacy.RI.3.7. The description is “Use information gained from illustrations and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g., where, when, why, and how key events occur)”. The learning objective for this lesson is to have students be able to explain how illustrations are useful when comprehending text, more so how they may give meaning to the text. Students should understand 80% of the material by referencing the illustrations and words. The standard and object are aligned since the objective is directly playing off the chosen standard. The goal is to have students reference the illustrations within the text, along with the words, in order to properly understand the text, A Medieval Feast .
