ENTR 200   Failure Case Paper Evaluation Criteria   "Things were going great until we decided to…"     Your individual Failure Case paper will be graded on how well you develop each of the six areas listed below AND how thoroughly you have researched the case you have chosen. You are encouraged to use MEL along with your other sources in your research. It is expected that you will present your ideas and arguments using the concepts and terminology covered in the text and in class. Write your paper as though it would appear in a business journal! Your paper is expected to be five or more pages excluding your bibliography. It is worth 75 points and is due the day of your presentation.   In writing your paper, create your own Heading for each of the numbered elements below . This will help you write a better paper (i.e. get a better grade) by ensuring that you cover each element and make your point. Support your findings (statements made) in each heading with citations from your research. 1. Brief Introduction of who founded and why--set the context for the initial success and subsequent failure. 2. The company's original purpose and its positioning against competitors (identify : Industry, Target Market, Competitors).   3. The company's profile using DIM/DWM methodology describing its actual or intended competitive advantage and unique Business Model if it had one.

4. Your analysis regarding the specifics of the causes of the trouble or failure. Avoid opinions and conjecture. In your research, analyze what you think are causes of the failure. In writing your paper, make statements and support them with facts from your research and give the citation .   5. What you believe could-should be/have been done differently to avoid the problems or failure (assume that you are the CEO, what would you do/have done differently, why). Support your recommendations with reasoning from what you've learned in class and your research .   6. Your personal lessons learned from the problem/failure and how they will guide you in your future decisions.   7. Your one page (minimum) Bibliography of at least five separate resourcesyou used to research the company (strongly recommend use of Krannert Management & Economics Library (MEL) resources. If not familiar with it, walk in and ask for help. The web is great, but MEL is among the best business-related resources available anywhere!).   http://www.doctorhousingbubble.com/lehman-brothers-the-rise-and-fall-of-lehman-brothers-a- history-that-goes-beyond-the-great-depression/ http://www.hoovers.com/company/Lehman_Brothers_Holdings_Inc/crsyji-1.html
