Invented Language Project, Invented Language Project, Part 3 – Syntax <<TYPE YOUR NAME AND SECTION NUMBER HERE>> <<TYPE THE DATE HERE>> Page 1 of 3 SECTION 1: Overview This is pretty self-explanatory; it’s a classic “thesis” paragraph, and every one will be different. (At least, that’s what turnitin.com will tell me, yes? :-) <<type in the name of your language, and the basic word order here, being sure to write in complete sentences! Give a brief preview of what you will cover in sections 2 and 3.>> In Sections 2 and 3, PLEASE tell me how you’ve formed these words and sentences, and how they exemplify the parameters you specified in Project Parts 1 and 2. That is, for each of your examples, explain briefly how you’ve applied your existing rules to form grammatical words, e.g., case markers or gender (such as ACC and FEM below) and why words occur in the order apparent in each of your sentences/questions. Once you’ve got a grip on your rules, the explanations won’t require much effort at all. Creativity is really encouraged here, and I hope that you experiment with some of your own constructs! One consequence of doing this is that you’ll learn more, which I hope is of at least some significance to you. A second consequence of creating your own rules may be that you’ll spend less time on this project in the long-run, which is a consideration for many of you at this point in the semester; you’ll almost certainly remember rules you designed yourself, and won’t waste time looking them up over and over.
