Sheet Course: Introduction to Engineering Graphics and Visualization copyright 2009, Georgia Institute of Technology Finite Element Analysis Of a 3D Solid Model Inventor like many other 3D Solid Modelers includes a small, simple Finite Element analysis program which can give quick analysis of a part. An Engineer needs to fully understand the theory and mathematics behind FEA in order to use this type of analysis tool. For this reason, generally there is a course or part of a course in the undergraduate curriculum that covers this material. It is then applied in the ME 4041 CAD course, and generally in the ME Senior Design course. This presentation is to only let you know that this calculation software is included in Inventor and a simple example is given to show the method of setting up the part model and how the analysis is displayed. The actual analysis would need to be tested against the true mathematical
