Spam is an unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups 1 . There are many different types of spam such as dictionary attacks, harvesting and phishing. By the end of 2004, 70% of global mail comprised of spam 2 . There has been an increase in the amount of spending towards protection against spamming. Therefore, I agree with Professor Micheal Geist that Canada needs to regulate spam and the Anti Spam Act is a step forward towards this direction.
