2/28/10 Osmotic Pressure The Osmotic Pressure of a solution, is the pressure which would have to be applied in order to stop the flow of a water into a solution. Ex) In this case it is the pressure needed to prevent the equilibrium state. Pressure would need to be added on the sucrose solution.

2/28/10 What Determines Osmotic Pressure? Is it the size of a molecule? Is it the shape of a molecule? Is it the charge of a molecule? Simply, osmotic pressure can be defined by the number of charged molecules in a solution and is not dependent on the size and shape. However!! The degree of ionization does affect the omsotic pressure.
