The article being appraised is Responding to disruptive behaviors in nursing: A
longitudinal, quasi-experimental investigation of training for nursing students by Ericka Sanner-
Stier. It covers research that investigated the effects of Cognitive Rehearsal Intervention taught to
nursing students affected their self-efficacy to respond to disruptive behaviors. In the appraisal
the population, measurement, legal and ethical issues will be reviewed.
Population, Setting and Sample
The population studied was final year nursing students from Midwest United States. The
researcher used convenience sampling. The sample population had to be students in the last year
of nursing school. The sampling used was appropriate as it utilized students who were in the
same level of school and had therefore been exposed to the same amount of education. Some of
