STEPS IN INTERVENING IN AN INCIDENT INVOLVING MARIJUANA STEPS IN INTERVENING IN AN INCIDENT INVOLVING ALCOHOL Introduce Staff Present Intervene= Point out behavior occurring (what you see) ASK FOR I.D.s (get all names present) MSU students Non-MSU students Residents of your hall Residents of other halls Did you tell  them you are  documenting the  situation? ASK FOR I.D.s  that have birth  dates on them. If they don’t have an I.D. with a birth date, & they are NOT residents of the hall, assume they are under 21. If they don’t have an I.D. with a birth date, & they are a resident of the hall, check the resident roster. Inquire about more alcohol present in room…? Ask them to open fridge…? Did you tell them you are documenting the situation? They can say “no” - include in report… Have them DUMP ALL opened and unopened and unopened alcohol in local drinking fountain or bathroom.
