Axia College Material Appendix E Hardware/Software Components In your own words, describe the following hardware/software components Legacy systems A system that continues to be used because of the cost to replace it or redesigning it. Mainframe computers Main frame computers are computers that send all there information to one location to be processed. Microprocessors Microprocessors are integrated circuits that contain the entire central processing unit of a computer on a single chip. PCs A system of wireless communication. Network computers This would be business computers that are part of a company that work together with other computers in a company.

Wired and wireless broadband technology Allows for the ability for a computer to access the internet with out being connected with a hard wire. PC software This would be Microsoft XP,Vista, Office and Student, or Word. All software that allows a computer to run properly. Networking software Allows for a group of computers to connect to another computer.
