Hong Tran Chem. 01A February 26, 2009 Lab #5 Density What did you learn? From this experiment, I know how to use a Venier caliper to measure the dimensions of the metal slug, also a Venier caliper is used to measure the height of slug. In this way, we can find the volume of the slug through the formula of finding volume of cylinder. There is one more way to find the volume of the slug and we don’t have to use any formula. In this way, we first measure the volume of water. Next, we put the slug in the water, then measure the volume of the slug and water. Finally, we can take the difference of the volume of the slug in water and the volume of water. In this case, we can get the volume of the slug individually. One more thing I have learned from this experiment was how to measure the mass of “unknown”. We can use the 10mL pipet to take “unknown”, then place it in a beaker, and weigh it. Of course we have to measure the mass of a beaker first.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
