Nolan Dickson and Josh Kanute Geometry Honors 5 th period Chapter 6 Kite Project Paper A kite is a device that is used for flying. The components of a kite simply consist of a flyable 2-dimensional object and some string. Kites have been around for over 2,800 years. The first kites showed up in China where silk, bamboo, and string were used. Kites reached Europe when Roman expansionism had brought back the idea from Persia. The Romans used Kites as war signs and insignias. From 1860 to 1910, Kites were used for sciences like meteorology and aeronautics. The idea of kites for school was quickly diminished after the invention of the power airplane. Different types of Kites There are many different types of kites. There is the fighter kite, which is used for the sport of kite fighting. They are smaller than most kites and are used to take down other kites. There is the water kite, which is used for fishing. They operate under water. There are indoor kites, which are used for flying in windless conditions.
